I needed to reformat my hard drive and backed up my Windows Mail (not Windows Live Mail) messages & contacts on an external drive.

After the reformat, I re installed the contacts & messages. However 2 large folders of mail have not been re installed. 

The message I get when I try to re install these 2 folders is:

     " No messages can be found in the folder or another application has the required file open. Please select another folder or try to closing the application that may have files open"

You can tell by looking at the backup folder that there is heaps of data in then. I don't know what other application would be open.

I am running Vista
