Hi,
I have two problems, one which a lot of other people appear to have had, but I can't find any satisfactory solutions.
I downloaded Windows Essentials Movie Maker but can't open it. The message I get is 'Sorry Movie Maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements......and try to update the driver......' etc. I've checked everything and my laptop and driver, an Intel Direct 10.1X, do meet all the requirements and are updated. I've uninstalled and re-installed more than once, then tried removing all of Windows Essentials and reinstalling, all to no avail. I've searched online but all the posts seem to be out of date and any links I've found that are supposed to be helpful no longer work.
I previously had Windows Essentials Movie Maker on my laptop but last week removed it and replaced it with Movie Maker 6 for my son to use to upload his videos. MM6 however, is not recognising his Sony DCR-SR37E videocam when I click 'Import from a digital videocam', it says 'Import video could not find a compatible digital video device', even though my laptop does recognise that it's there (it dings and shows up in 'Computer'), so that's now an additional problem! I read a suggestion to go to the Sony site to see if I could download a driver to my computer but it said there that the necessary drivers would be already be installed on Windows 7, which I have.
My son has Windows Essentials Movie Maker on his PC with Windows 8. It used to work OK but now keeps freezing and sometimes the images don't appear. I've tried removing and re-installing that too but it's still not working properly. He's pretty much house-bound and his main entertainment is putting videos on Youtube so he's feeling really at a loss without Movie Maker. Can anyone help please?
Thanks, Toni.
