Windows Live Mail---How do I resize and darken the text display and associated screen graphic such a boxed fields etc?

The issue also applies to Skype screens.  They too are unreadable. Has Microsoft lost it's way and no longer knows what it's customers need?  There are about 1 Billion users with poor eyesight.
