Windows Live Mail suddenly setting message flags and other pop ups constantly

I have had WLM and Gmail set up with IMAP for years with no problems. Last week it suddenly started popping up with "Setting message Flags" every time I click on any email. It takes about 30 seconds before I can do anything else. I get 50 or more a day.

Same thing happens when I delete an email. I get a "Deleting Message" pop up. It also takes 30 seconds before I can do anything else. It can take 5 minutes to delete 10 emails, one at a time.

Same thing happens if I move a message to another folder. I get a "Moving Message" pop up that takes 30 seconds. I move a lot of emails into other folders and it can take 5 minutes to move 10 emails.

I also get an "Updating Changes" pop up on top of the others at the same time. I haven't changed anything !!!

This has made my WLM virtually unusable. If I can't get it fixed I will have to go back to regular old Gmail or maybe POP.

I have repaired and updated everything
