I am trying to setup a winlivemail account for an elderly friend.  She's currently using Outlook Express on an XP.  But she has Win7 now and MS no longer supports Outlook express.

I downloaded Mail from the Essentials package and filled in the POP and SMTP fields as they were in Outlook Express.  I entered her user name and password and it refuses to accept them; and I KNOW they are correct because I have them written down in my contact notes!

I suppose I could change her password on the the providers Webmail site, but is there no other way to make the correct password work the way it's configured?

It occurred to me that the user has to be logged into Window Live for Live Mail to work?

But the error message clearly states that the wrong username and password are wrong.
