Actually i was so annoyed by the way Windows Live Mail (WLM) was behaving and there was no reply to my wonders, that i deleted my account from WLM and instead started using gmail directly.
After this period, i was again wondering to start using an email client and had zeroed in on Mozilla Thunderbox. But since that required a fresh download, I am giving a fresh trial to WLM.
The problem i faced earlier was as hereunder:
I am having my email account with gmail where i am maintaining lots of labels besides the folders that it has. The total size that my mails occupy on gmail is about 12GB. The total no. of emails in whole mailbox is about 25000.
Now while downloading my mails with windows live, what I am observing is that the windows live has created its own folder for each folder and label in gmail and while synchronising the mailbox, the windows live has downloaded all the mails in gmail's inbox, then downloaded the same emails again while synchronizing the 'all mails' folder and then downloaded the same mails again while synchronizing each and every other folder and label.
This is resulting in repeated downloads of same mail and lots of storage space being occupied.
Though the total storage space that's occupied in gmail is about 12GB, its about 22GB that's consumed on my hard drive.
Now that I am thinking of using WLM again, the problems I face are multiple and as listed below:
1. How can set my WLM in a way that each email is downloaded just once.
2. The emails had earlier been downloaded in my system and though I had deleted my account in WLM, the emails that were downloaded were still lying in various (a lot many) subfolders in a folder titled 'Storage Folder'. What I had done was extracted all the WLM files (in format '.eml') from all these folders and saved in a single folder. Thereafter, i deleted the duplicate .eml files that were contained using some duplicate file removing software. Now that i am thinking about again using my WLM account, is this possible to import these .eml files to my account, rather than downloading the 12 GB of emails afresh from gmail?
3. When earlier i was trying to use WLM, i faced this problem that after majority of the emails were downloaded (after lots of efforts and lots of days), something would happen and a message would appear on screen that WLM is synchronising data and thereafter I would find that all the emails that had been downloaded were deleted. (Actually now i find that they were not actually deleted. They were no more visible in WLM, but the .eml files had moved to various subfolders in the folder name "Storage Folder".) Kindly suggest me a way that this doesnot happen again.
4. Since i am already left with downloaded mails till January 2014, Is there some way that i can just download mails received after 20th of January 2014?
To respond to your question, i have set up my account again in WLM using proper settings from gmail.
For the time being, I have stopped synchronization of all folders except for the "All Mails" folder and that too i have marked only to synchronize the new mails.
I know i have too many questions, but shall appreciate if i can get a reply.
Thanks and regards.
