I have this same problem.  I've been using Windows Live Mail for about a month on my laptop with Windows 8.  Now it suddenly won't open.  It tries for several minutes, then I get this message: "Windows Live Mail could not be started.  It may not be installed correctly.  Make sure your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory (0x80041161)."

I've tried doing the Repair on Windows Essentials, cleaning up my disk, changing the Compatibility setting, etc. 

Also, Google Chrome is not starting sometimes now.  Both issues just came up today.  But I can run FireFox, and Chrome starts some of the time.
