Can anyone help please?

My windows live mail account does not synchronise and there is an error code 0x800488A6 when it tries to connect.  I have spent a large part of the afternoon so far on live chat with the Technical answers desk, been passed to three people, the last of whom told me it was a Windows Live Essential problem and to go to support.live.com for answers.

My live emails have disappeared and it is in a constant state of saying that it is synchronising, but doesn't.

Microsoft asked me to verify the account sometime last week, but it would not accept the code it sent, when inputted.  I have told it to accept my mobile number as opposed to the security email address and now have to wait 30 days for handover, I guess.

Can anyone resolve this issue please, as I have no emails or inbox, sent, deleted, etc.
