I am using Windows Live Mail on my Windows 10 computer. I am getting a large number of duplicate contacts (sometime as many as 6 duplicates). I went to live.people.com and tried to use the clean contacts option for a few of the contacts with duplicates to see how it worked and found that after it "cleaned" the ones I selected, I went back to the contacts option  in Windows live mail and found that the number of contacts had actually INCREASED. The past advice I received on this is to check that my email account on WLM is not duplicated. I do not have a duplicate email address. I have 2 different ones from the same ISP.  I am signed into my Microsoft account when I use WLM so presumably the contacts are synced between the WLM program and the people.live.com list.  Thus, my questions are: 1. how to remove duplicates that currently exist and that number in the many hundreds; and 2. how to prevent them from showing up in the future and 3. why does "clean up contacts" increase the number I see on WLM?  I also want to be able to preserve the categories of contacts I created.

thanks
