Hi,
I am experiencing a very annoying problem with SkyDrive on Windows 8.1!
I am getting random faults from C:\Windows\System32\Skydrive.exe during normal execution (fault code 0x00000000) and other odd behaviors. I am able to see my files in Explorer (which all have a sync icon next to them). In the SkyDrive metro app I see there are 2,000 files on "Downloading" state which are all at status "Pending" the host app has a network use of 0 MBPS. I've done the C:\Windows\System32\Skydrive.exe /shutdown and then restarted the program. It doesn't do anything.
I shutdown SkyDrive program again, deleted the contents of C:\Users\XXXXX\SkyDrive and then restarted it. This time SkyDrive host process did something (for about 10 minutes it had some network and CPU use) and I see all the files back with status "online only" which is fine, however after 10 minutes SkyDrive.exe either crashes, or I get the same problem in the Metro App (2,000 files stuck in pending).
I thought this was a bug so I closed all other computers which were accessing my SkyDrive account (three W7 machines with the SkyDrive desktop app). Still after two days 2,000 files stuck in pending on download. So, I opened a PPTX file (it downloaded) and opened the file in PowerPoint. I added one slide and saved it. This time the SkyDrive sync process looks like it uploaded (network use spiked and then went back to 0). When I looked in the Metro app it said one file was being uploaded and the status of the upload was "Completed" and 0 files being downloaded. I thought this might have fixed it. So I went on http://skydrive.com and view the properties for the PPT and it says last updated 5 days ago, the slide isn't present on the web copy!? Double checked and the Metro app read "Completed" on the upload.
I waited another hour and checked again, no extra slide. I restarted my PC and opened the metro app, for some reason the PPTX is back to "Pending" on upload and I have like 2,000 files back again stuck in "Pending" mode. I checked, I don't have "make all files available offline" enabled, the SkyDrive sync process is doing nothing (0 CPU, 0 Network and 0 Disk).
The SkyDrive app used to work perfectly, I don't have this problem on any of my Windows 7 machines and never had this problem with Windows 8.0.
This is extremely frustrating as I use SkyDrive for sharing documents with clients and my Surface is now (practically) useless. I am now stuck opening files from the web (so PPT will upload them directly to SkyDrive) which is a pain when dealing with multiple
files.
Is there anything else I can try?
Also, please fix SkyDrive on 8.1 it used to work so well. I might have to repair my Surface back to factory settings and ignore 8.1 completely.
Thanks
