Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail account.

Windows live 2011...My Hotmail account went to outlook.com on my MSN home page. BUT I still want to be able to use my windows live account that I have used for years. I have another account there as well. I know how to use this one.  I posted about this once before because it would not work at all. Now that it works on outlook I want to be able to use windows live. I am PC challenged so please explain clearly or can you do it for me?
