My problem is more recent - Oct '16.  Updated to Live Mail 2012.  Upon opening Live Mail, was always prompted in separate window to "sign in." Wasn't necessary and prompt was annoying.  Finally, I signed in, in an attempt to rid myself of the prompt.  When I did, I lost my contacts which were replaced by Echo 123.  Learned how to get rid of that, which I did, and return to my contacts, which I did... EXCEPT the contacts were those in a file that I had years ago.  My list included people who I had deleted 3 - 4 years ago. 

Many of the contacts that appeared are good, some that did not appear I was able to recreate from recent Inbox emails but I'm unable to restore the latest version of my contact file and have lost people.

One suggestion is per above but when I go to the Connections tab, "Stop signing in" box is not active; i.e., I cannot select it.

Will appreciate help.
