Some time ago, I attempted to recover an Xbox Live account that was hacked.  I tried to show proof of account ownership through a thread in this community, but the issue wasn't resolved.  My last private reply to the thread was never answered, and the thread has been locked so it is impossible to continue using it to resolve the issue:

I would greatly appreciate it if this issue could be reopened to regain control of the affected account.
