I have an old live.com account  since year 2009(when outlook.com was not launched) and I also have new Outlook.com account. For some reason I am not able to configure IMAP access for the old live.com account but I am able to config the new Outlook.com account. Is there a reason why this is happening? Are all the old live.com and hotmail.com account upgraded to Outlook.com.

To troubleshoot from my end, I added an Alias to the live.com email id, the alias ends with Outlook.com and then I made that alias as primary alias. Still didn't solve.

Any new account which was created when Outlook.com was launched works fine.

I am doing using the exact same steps as mentioned in the link. But, cant setup Live.com account using IMAP.
