Original Title: Can not send or download internet message

I have windows 10. I am unable to send or receive email. Checked with my server who says it's a Microsoft issue. In the past week I received a message saying there were missing protocols on the computer. I searched through the forum and many of them said to work with the network adapter. I'm unable to do this. When the computer was very new we received a lightening strike that tool out 1 tv, 1 modem, a garage door opener and the network adapter on my desktop. As a result I am using it wireless. It has worked great but recent updates from Microsoft have created problems. Oh, I'm using Windows Live Mail on a Dell Inspiron 3847. Can anyone suggest how I might correct these problems.
