I am having this same problem.  I am an IT professional and have tried many of the solutions suggested in the forums:

• I am on Windows 7 with all updates applied
• I am using WLM 2012
• I am using IMAP and an MSN.com email address
• I have repaired and re-installed WLM
• I have removed and re-added the email account
• It is the only email account in WLM
• I can delete emails by dragging them one-by-one to the deleted folder
• I cannot delete emails using delete via any other method

Any advise will be greatly appreciated and save the rest of my hair... ;-)
