I exported a vCard file of my contacts from windows live mail. I tried to import these files into my new Apple iPad Air 2. I have downloaded and installed iCloud for Windows. When I attempted to Import the contacts file into ICloud, I got message that said the file could not be read.  Apple messages say they can import versions 3.0 or later of vCard file formats. I have no idea what version that window live exports? 

In addition to the above: Apple documents keep mentioning Outlook 2007 or later. I do not have Outlook on my PC. (using Windows Live Mail). I am probably doing something wrong, at MS end or Apple end or both. 

Can I transfer these contacts with the software I have on my PC or not.
