I have a similar problem that I hope somebody can help.

I have Windows Live Mail operating on Windows 8 because Comcast must use PoP3 and Windows 8 does not support PoP3.

I can receive email via Comcast using Live Mail.

I cannot send email via Comcast using Live Mail. This is the problem.

I can send email using the Comcast web email interface and other computers in our home can receive and send email via Comcast using Outlook. so apparently it is not a Comcast problem.

I receive the following error message when I try to send a message:

The connection to the server has failed

Subject: TEST MESSAGE (the message I tried to send)

Server 'smtp.comcast.net'

Windows Live Error ID  0x00CCC0E

Protocol SMTP

Port 25

Secure (SSL) No

Socket Error 10013
