I'm using Windows Live Mail 2012 on a Windows 8 system.  When I email photos to a recipient, WLM creates a SkyDrive album (i.e., a SkyDrive folder) which contains the photos being sent, as well as an email message with a link to that SkyDrive folder.  As part of the link in the email, WLM includes a statement that reads similar to the following example:

=====

"This album has 2 photos and will be available on

 SkyDrive until 12/13/2013."

=====

I noticed another user on this forum ("boatcristan2") posting a question similar to mine.  He received a reply from Moderator "Levi_I." which read, in part, as follows:

=====

"There is no longer an expiration period for uploaded files via the web SkyDrive, the SkyDrive desktop app or from your moble device will never be deleted.  There are only two cases where a file will expire or be available in a limited fashion:
A. If you're using Live Mail client, photo mail feature files transferred here will expire in 90 days unless the owner of the pictures goes to the web SkyDrive and extends the expiration. Here are the steps to do this:
1. Login in to your web SkyDrive then open the uploaded folder.

2. You will notice the yellow banner found on top showing the expiration date.

3. Click Change clean up settings.

4. Choose you preferred expiration settings then click Save."
=====

I tried to follow these instructions; but, unfortunately, when I login to SkyDrive and open the uploaded folder, there is no yellow banner showing at the top of the folder, and there is no indication of any expiration date.  There is also no button or option available to "Change clean up settings".

So, I have two questions:

1.  If there's no yellow banner, does that mean that the SkyDrive folder has no expiration date (despite what WLM says)?

2.  If there really is an expiration date, then how do I change it (since there's no button labeled "Change clean up settings"?

Hi to any Nerds; I'm running Win 7 ultimate 64 bit with 2012 windows essentials pk using the Windows Live Mail client. been using for several years. I just changed ISP to Telstra bigpond and they have given me a couple of email address -------@bigpond and have synced ok . meaning that I ave the accounts set up on my computer Windows live mail and I can send and receive without having to open browser and go to Bigpond. However Bigpond uses the 'new'(2013) web mail widows Outlook  and this is my not under standing. For me to have additional email addresses I had to create ------@outlook.com which do work on the outlook.com website but I can't get them to sync onto my WLM as the -----bigpond.com ones do
My gmail and others sync ok also
My *** Email address is removed for privacy *** now doesn't sync with WLM on my pc any more although I still get mail to that address from 2 people only ? I had to stop using the ------@live.com address because i can't send or receive it from WLM and Yet that I thought was to be my default email and is still how i can login  the ' new' outlook

So how do I make that happen as I would prefer to access my mail via my WLM program without the hassell of opening a browser and can also read mail when I'm not on line ?

Appreciate any Help
Everytime I attempt to access my Contacts, WLM goes into  a (Not Responding) state.  It will stay there until I shut the program down.  Upon re-start the same thing happens.
I have also noticed that a bunch of Facebook contacts, in a new folder, has been added.  Without my expressed permission.

I'm ready to go back to Outlook, but I can't get to my Contacts to save the data.

Help!
I access hotmail account in several different ways - outlook.com web interface, ipad mail app and windows live mail.

WLM will download and send correctly but will not sync changes made in other interfaces. i.e if i delete a message via outlook.com it will still be there in WLM.

Have tried updating to WLM 2012, repairing WLM, removing and reconfiguring hotmail account.  Nothing seems to work.  I do not get an error message - it just wont sync properly.

Help please!!!
Hello all.

Until today i was using outlook mail and WLM (windows live mail) with POP3 and the mail in Greek were appearing OK.

Since today that i switched to IMAP , if the Subject is in Greek, on WLM the mail is appearing with ??? .

If i open the mail or see it in preview both the title and the subject are appearing OK.

I have checked the encoding and the fonts on WLM and it's ok (Greek)

Have tried it on Windows 8 and Windows 7 and it's the same problem.

Both the pc's are in English Language.

Any info ?

Thanks in advance for your help ,

Dimitris

Whenever I open WLM, my emails always turn into attachments labelled htm. Any suggestions?

Hi everypne,
Using latest WindowsLiveMail on a Win7_64bit system. I have numerous
eMail addresses installed, mainly IMAP, but also an @live.at eMail
address.
In this  live eMail address i have numerous folders + subfolders;
as i understand, the @live addresses use a sync protocol of their own
that differs from IMAP (MS calls it DeltaSync).

This @live eMail address is all in all installed on 3 computers and
most of the time the syncing of the folders/subfolders works fine.

However, every month or so the following phenomenon happens in
WindowsLiveMail:

sending/receiving eMails works fine and *at first glance* the
subfolders of the @live address seem to be there, but they are all
muddled up:
some folder names are present but the SUBFOLDERS are gone (not showing
up).
Double-pressing F5 to resync everything does not change anything.

When using the webmailer to look into the @live address, all the
folders/subfolders are correctly there.

So my only workaround when this error happens:
1. remove the account in WLM
2. set database compression to 1, set "work offline", log out of
WindowsLive, close WLM to let the database compress properly, re-open
WLM.
3. Re-install the @live eMail account and wait until everything syncs;
the deltasync protocol does its work and all folders/subfolders
reappear.

However .......... not very convenient, does anyone know of a better
solution?

greetings from Vienna

I am using Windows 7 with Windows Live Essentials. My POP3 email client has been WLM for years; (current version: WLM 2011). It has worked  flawlessly until a few days ago. I have 3 email accounts, all with Comcast.net. I can receive my email from Comcast's web client, but not when I download my messages to WLM. I get the following error message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the STEVEN account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR invalid username/password
Server: 'mail.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

I have checked and re-checked my email and port settings, and they are correct---the same for all 3 accounts. There are no drafts sitting in the outgoing mailbox. I use the latest version of Firefox (v.23) and Avast anti-virus. I have turned off my anti-virus and Windows Firewall, but the problem persists. I've uninstalled and re-installed Live Essentials, but that doesn't help. I'm at my wits end. Please help.

Original title:
Windows Live Mail (WLM) receives POP3 mail on only 2 of my 3 Comcast.net accounts
Win XP(SP3)

I normally use OE as my default email program.

Recently I decided to try WLM.

However when WLM had finished importing all my accounts and folders, I found that all 8 of my other email accounts had been separated into individual sections within the folder list.

The beauty of OE is that mail from ALL my email accounts are delivered to one SINGLE inbox .  In WLM I now have to visit each inbox for each separate email account to see if any mail has arrived.

I have unsuccessfully tried to set a rule to copy emails arriving at my other accounts to my default email account.

The only workaround  I have at the moment is a rule which forwards emails arriving in my WLM email accounts to my Hotmail account which then forwards those emails back to my WLM default email account.

Is there any other way around this tedious issue?
First, to J W Stuart,

My sincere apology for your having misunderstood the tender of my commentary at my earlier posting.  I definitely did not intend sarcasm as to having stated my understanding of the program.  Just a choice of the wrong wording at a stressful moment.

I have followed advice and successfully downloaded Windows Live Mail (hereinafter "WLM").  However,I am  currently at the screen to input an email address and Microsoft account password. The problem is, the address of which of my email accounts?  I inserted the email address I have with Microsoft.com and it is not accepted.

Moreover, in creating an email address for WLM, what is the abbreviation of same, the latter? Or, might I construe a connection between WLM and Hotmail? Is this the answer I am seeking?  Heretofore, I had presumed they are two separate entities.  I tried creating a new email address specifically for WLM; alas, not the answer..  I have searched the Web, asked specifics, but must have missed something on-point, because I am "lost in translation." (smile)

Further assistance would be most welcome.
