Hi all - running WLM 2012 on my Window 8 Netbook using 10 accounts perfectly.

Needed a clone on my Window 7 Desktop machine with exact Database Navigation and Folder Tree for same 10 accounts as a final message destination, setting my Netbook to "Leave messages on server" for mobile usage.

So:

Installed WLM 2012 on Desktop; fine. Copied cloned Database from Netbook over to AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail.

Worked immediately. like a charm, all folders and messages and accounts (passwords to input manually) one 100% OK.

Hurray!

However after 4-5 shut down/start-ups the entire folder tree collapsed into a basic tree consisting of just basic  INBOX/DRAFT/SENT/Unwanted Mail/Deleted for each account, showing no messages, although all cloned data was still resident on disc in its correct above location.

No way to retrieve nor show any messages... nor the intended navigational structure - vanished.

Uninstalled WLM, delete clone Database, did the whole operation over again and hey presto, everything back OK.

After 4-6 shutdowns/startups of WLM 2012 the navigation Folder Tree collapsed back into 10 basic 5-line account blocks, not showing any messages, although all of them still reside in  AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail.

What is this? How can initially everything run fine as intended and then... vapourise?

Driving me mad as I did the exercise 6 times now.

Also any reboot makes the initially nicely working folder tree AND messages visually disappear.

Anyone a clue why initially everything works as intended -- and then deconstructs and disappears?

Driving me bonkers - as I need this structure, it is there and then after 5-6 uses vanishes...

Looking forward to your suggestions -

Sam / The Netherlands

I was moving 486 email messages from the WLM inbox to a mailbox subfolder when an error message appeared, and I hit cancel. Now here is the glitch.  All 486 emails were moved from the inbox to the subfolder.  Windows Live Mail displays all the messages in the subfolder. I can open each message in the subfolder.  However, when I try to use a third party email address extraction tool on the subfolder it does not see any of the email messages.  So I used the WLM export tool to move the messages from the mailbox subfolder, and the tool runs, but the destination folder only shows five of the 485 messages.  So then using Windows explorer I tried to copy the eml files in the mailbox subfolder, but no eml files are visible in the mailbox subfolder directory. Then I tried to move the 486 email messages back to the inbox.  And WLM moved them back.  The appeared in the inbox correctly.  I could open them in WLM. However, when I move them back to mailbox subfolder, I still can't export them, see them in Windows Explorer or use my third party extraction tool.

So my question is there a way to force WLM to reindex the messages, or re-synch the messages or do something.  Apparently something happened when the I moved the files for the first time, and now outside of WML they are just ghost files.  And yes, I have "show hidden files turned on for the folder."

I hate to lose access to this messages as they are all customer messages and I need to extract their email addresses in order to communicate with them.  So is there a way to extract email addresses in WLM, or is there a way to fix this mailbox subfolder so the messages can be exported?

Any help would be appreciated.

This is driving me crazy. I'll try to explain my best.

Yesterday I installed WLM 2012. Made my email account, everything was fine.
Until the next day.

In the next day I logged in into WLM and I wanted to send a e-mail to a friend.
When clicking on the "New message" button this error showed up:
"A problem occurred when trying to open this message.
A problem has occurred. Please try again."

I did repair it and then it worked. After a day logged into WLM again and the same error comes up.
WHAT Is going on? I have Windows 7 x86 HP SP1. And I ran a virus scan with avast!, Malware Bytes and cleaned up my PC with ASC 7. After doing all that still the same error..

Help me! Or at least make a Mr. Fix It for this! :(

Well, It's thunderbird for now...

About a month ago, my WLM began malfunctioning in multiple ways.  Tried all suggestions/tips, finally had to uninstall and reinstall.  that helped for a few days, now it is not working properly again and I am losing messages which WLM just moves to my delete box before I barely see them in my inbox, then it will not send out my messages, they just sit there.  If I try to open the unsent message, there is an error message that there is a problem and it cannot be opened.

Have not figured out how to resend, major problem issue!

At times while I am working in WLM, error message appears that I cannot open WLM because another instance of it is already open - what's that all about?

WLM stops working everytime I sent a message - error message, then it corrects itself.

Can anyone tell me what to do?  This program acts like it's corruputed but I did just reinstall it about a week ago so I don't see that repeating that is going to remedy these problems.

When I do try to select a message to move, delete, etc., WLM just moves, deletes, etc., anything it wants to.  Cannot click on just one contact from list, it

highlights all contacts.  Sick puppy!
