I recently bought a windows phone, and I set up a hotmail account for this phone shortly after, maybe 3 weeks ago. For some strange reason, Outlook temporarily blocked my account, citing unusual activity. I don;t see how this is possible, since I just started the account and never used it. They sent me to verify my account with a phone number. Unfortunately, the geniuses who set up this phone verification do not consider Sierra Leone, where I am, to be a country, and so I cannot verify my account, which 3 weeks later is still blocked. I have sent numerous emails to the help desk,  and recently I got this answer from MERC, who is an advanced specialist. This dunderhead tells me that there is a limit to how many emails I can send at the start of an account (see below). However, I have not been able to send a SINGLE email from this account, since they blocked it almost immediately.  Today, I get another message from Hotmail advising me to verify my account -- which of course I have done many times and can;t because the experts at Hotmail do not recognize that Sierra Leone, in West Africa, is a country.

All they have to do is unblock my account, which I have asked them to do many times. But that would be too simple for the advanced support team that includes Marvelous Merc. Have never had anything similar happen to gmail accounts. Now i regret buying a windows phone -- as who knows how lousy that support system is?

Hi,

I am Merc, I'm a Senior Support Analyst for Microsoft. I am part of the Outlook.com Support Escalations Team.

We apologize that your country is not listed on the country list to verify your account through your mobile phone. You can send a feedback regarding this on this page.
Regarding the sending limit, you will have to continue using the account but please note that since your account is new, there is a daily limit to your sending capabilities.
Continue using the account to increase your reputation and this limit will increase.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Thanks!
Merc

Nothing but heartburn getting SkyDrive to work correctly!

Here's the latest problem:

When I attempt to open a OneNote file from SkyDrive on my Windows Phone 8, I get the follow error message:

There is a Problem

We can't complete this task. Try Again. Error code: 8000003e9.

Anybody have any idea of what is going here?

Would very much appreciate any suggestions.

I seem to of lost all my contact pictures. I set up several contacts that don't have social networks with their own profile pictures. I know at least one of them was still there at the weekend, yet scrolling through my contacts today I have a lot of grey boxes. Logging on to outlook.com gave the same results.

The only change I have made is that I deleted and then re-added my Facebook account on my phone.

After all the issues I'm having with Skydrive, I'm thinking of going to the darkside of Google or even Apple come upgrade time, and that is something I really don't want to be doing!

Personally I own a Windows P.C. a Windows Mobile 6.5, a Windows Phone 7.8 and a Windows Phone 8, all of these are linked to my Microsoft-account and I use Microsoft's many Cloud apps (or sometimes called ''an ecosystem'''s by people) to synchronize all my devices, but I only have 7 G.B. of space and I use my Nokia Lumia's camera to take a lot of pictures and have little space left. I want to suggest to Microsoft to reward Windows, Xbox and Windows Phone users by giving people with a Windows P.C. Phone or Xbox with free space for SkyDrive, at present Google Drive gives 15 G.B. Dropbox 2 G.B. and Apple's iCloud 5 G.B. though Microsoft SkyDrive is a solid #2 in the amount of free space and the service is superbly integrated in all devices and is arguebly better than the rest and their ecosystems, respectively it requires a lot more space for a power-user.

I know that Microsoft in already gives free SkyDrive space (200 G.B.) for new Microsoft Surface 2 users, but the rest of us P.C. owners are left behind, I think more people will choose Windows P.C.'s and Windows Phones and even Xbox One's and Xbox 360's if they'll get more (permanent) free space in SkyDrive.

Okay so a little over two months ago, my windows phone Facebook chat stopped working and said I needed to sign in again. When it redirected me to the sign in, it was not Facebook but Hotmail that it wanted me to re sign in to. After signing in as normal it told me that my account may be being used by someone else and they needed to confirm that it was indeed my account. When I start the process it wants to use my old email that had been removed last time I had tried to sign in to it. So I click the I can't receive my code option and fill out the survey. After doing so a email came telling me I didn't provide enough information and the only things i had not filled out were Credit Card, Microsoft Account Live Prepaid Card, and Subjects of recent emails. I almost always leave the subject blank and if I don't it is all just random gibberish. The Credit Card on account belongs to my Father and he was working at the time I filled out the survey. A few days later I ask my father to allow me to put in the last four digits on the card. After three days I get a response telling me that I still didn't have enough information to regain access. By this point I am frustrated and furious. I tried calling to talk to someone about this recent problem and was told by the automated response to fill out the survey once more. I fill out the survey and am told I still don't have enough information to regain access. I haven't been able to check my email in over a month and have been having trouble using anything on my windows phone. Tell me what I can do to regain access to my account. If it wasn't important to me I wouldn't have filled out the survey three times, so I find the email telling me that it recommends me making a new account, offensive and insensitive to my problem. I have many important things attached to this account and MUST regain access. Thank you for your time, and please fix this problem I am having.
