I have made a movie on Windows Movie Maker and I'm ready to save it. However, when I click the save button it immediately does step 1 of 2 but will not continue onto the second step. I have left it like this for over 24 hours and it has never changed. I tried saving it in the recommended format, for a computer, for you tube. I've tried saving it as a Windows MPEG-4 and WMVF. I don't know what to do. nothing has worked.

  <------- This is what it gets stuck on

I'm trying to use windows movie maker to save the movie in a MPEG4 format, it only saves in MP4, how do you save with the proper codec to get an MPEG4 film?

Why can't I load .mp4 files from the BBC iPlayer into Windows Movie Maker? Do I need a special codec and, if so, where do I get it?

I was working on a project in movie maker, and the program crashed. When I re-opened the file, which was saved, it said sorry, Movie Maker can't open this project file. The file might not be compatible with Movie Maker or be corrupted. I had been working on it for a few days and had no problems closing and re-opening it, so it's not a compatibility issue. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Movie Maker, and that was unsuccessful.

I only saved one copy throughout (not multiple copies at different stages), which I now realize was a mistake, but unfortunately that also means I can't easily go back and just fix a few things... It's not really an option for me to start from scratch at this point, and I only have a few days to figure this out, so if anyone could help me out quickly I would really appreciate it. I've uploaded the file into my OneDrive if anyone is willing to take a look at it. I realize there are already several questions/discussions about this issue, but none of them have been able to help me resolve mine, so I'm counting on this pretty heavily!

Here is the file in question: (removed)    (should be named round3celebrationvid)

Thanks thanks thanks,

Cornelia

Why is that whenever I drag a video clip into the timeline (preview) of windows movie maker and play it back, the quality goes down a lot? (streaks and poor quality) The video clip is fine when I'm playing it through the "Collections" folder
Update : it's not just a preview though that gives the bad quality, that's how the final version looks when saved. It didn't use to do this before.

I have windows 8.1 and just downloaded the widows movie maker I then uploaded my movies which are mp4 format. None of them had sound in the movie maker but all played perfect when opened in other applications like windows media player. the video volume button shows that it is muted and I have tried everything to un-mute it.... Help!

I wanted to slow down movie footage, but the version of windows live movie maker I had did not have that option, in spite of the fact that the super old 2.6 version did. However, I was told by this website that if I updated my current version, I would be able to slow down and speed up video. So I checked my computers specs, all of which met the minimum requirements, and installed a new version off of the microsoft website. However, upon trying to use the new version, I was prompted with an error that said;

"Sorry, Movie Maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements before trying to start Movie Maker again, and then try to update the driver of your video card is Movie Maker still doesn't start.

It then prompts me to this page;

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows-Live/movie-maker-system-requirements-ui

It also has a "learn more" button which simply opens up the site search and punches in "movie maker" for me.

This website told me I needed to install this, this website told me I had the minimum requirements. It's like asking someone to fix your car, hearing them say they can, only to have them break your headlights and windows.

I'd like to either know how to resolve this problem or how to get my old version back. The version I had wasn't 2.6; it came with my windows 7 computer. If I used recovery media I'd get it back, but that would be an enormous waste of time. As for trying to fix whatever problems I have now as a means of using the newest windows live movie maker, there was a link on the first page I posted about updating my graphics card;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2741355/en-us

this page prompts me with the message;

"You cannot start Windows Movie Maker 2012 when a graphics card that supports DirectX 9 is installed on a Windows 7 computer."

I'm running DirectX 11, and before updating movie maker, I could edit video just fine. I am yet to find a way to fix this of regain the previous version I have.

Also, it would be really nice if your website could read it's own forum codes. I posted this and got a lot of < br/ >'s all over the place. To boot, when you highlight text and press the backspace key to delete it, it also deletes the first character before that text.

Hi,

I recently installed Movie Maker. It works fine when I am at work, connected to my company's "wired" network. However, when I am at home, using my computer and a wireless connection, I get a message that says, "Sorry Windows Movie Maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements before trying to start Windows Movie Maker again, and then try to update the driver for your video card if Movie Maker still doesn't start."

I've checked the system requirements, and it seems that everything is up to date. Which also *seems to* make sense, as it was working well hours ago when I was sitting at my desk at work.

Any suggestions? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.

I have created a movie in windows movie maker. The saved file works fine however when I upload to Facebook the movie only plays audio. I have sent it up via the programs share button as well as just uploading the file.  I have done it in Divx and wmv and it still plays back the same way. The only place it looks good is on my desktop.
