Outlook.com not showing some pictures in Active View

For some reason, when using Outlook.com, it does not show some images in the preview window, nor does it allow such images to be viewed in the slideshow.  Is there some sort of filter mechanism being used to keep some images from displaying?  Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

 

 

Notice how the first image is shown, while the second one isn't.  Furthermore, only the first image is included in the slideshow.  Is there any way to fix this issue?

Live Mail is now showing emails with .txt and .htm attachments, How do I revert back to seeing the content in the preview window?

I want to be able to see the email body and be able to download (show images) again. Right now every email, even old and new ones are showing a .txt atttachment and htm attachments.
