Installed windows 8.1, now the notification icon for SkyDrive does not appear or work. I have turned off and back on again but I keep getting the message that the notification is not currently active and will be shown the next time it becomes active. How
do I get this working?

Think I'll drop Skydrive. It seems to "get stuck" uploading a 20MB+ file. The notification icon just sits at "processing". It would be useful if this gave a little more information while handling particularly large files.
I fix this by closing the desktop (Skydrive) program, logging into Skydrive browser and dragging the file into the browser which provides a nice upload commentary and takes about 30mins.
Then I restart the desktop programme and -as expected - it says "up-to-date".
Thinking out loud...this is an email client (data) file. I guess there's a possibility that it gets updated in a time which is LESS than the time it takes to upload it. In this case, Skydrive would never catchup. Is this a possible scenario?

I have skydrive on a pc and a surface tablet. I have uninstalled skydrive several times on both and cannot get the notification icon to show up. I done all the things I've seen on the forum to no avail. I have windows 8.1 but had the problem before
I installed the eval update from 8. I want to be able to access the pc files in particular but can't get a connection without the icon. Any help is appreciated.
