For all text below. first = my first name, last = my last name. For privacy, I didn't use my names.
I was able to sign up my third-level .name domain (example: first.last.name) at domains.live.com. I edited my DNS records to add the MX and TXT records just fine. Then I created an account which ended up being *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I sent a few emails in both directions
to test it out, they were all received fine. Then I went into the account and added an alias *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (as Verisign forwards *** Email address is removed for privacy *** to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***). The alias was verified and I can sign in with it at outlook.com and on an iPhone.
However, I cannot send emails from the alias *** Email address is removed for privacy *** as outlook.com will not allow me to make it the primary alias (it is verified, but says it can't make "@last.name" the primary), and it will also not allow me to send emails on my iPhone from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
- it stops the outgoing message with an error.
How can I fix this? I wouldn't mind switching from my current provider, Fastmail. However, I need outlook.com to correctly support a third-level .name domain; and all third-level .name domains come with email forwarding such that *** Email address is removed for privacy *** is a valid address
for the domain first.last.name.
I'll repeat. *** Email address is removed for privacy *** is a valid address for first.last.name. I've been sending and receiving emails using Fastmail on *** Email address is removed for privacy *** since 2004, and as Outlook/Live/Hotmail.com now supports both ActiveSync and IMAP I would love to switch.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you
