Since Hotmail changed to Outlook, how can you use MSN Messenger while checking your emails? You could when it was Hotmail. Outlook is rubbish!

Current MSN messenger supports storing e mails on my computer in folders. With the switch over to Skype Or Hotmail will these messages be accessible and if so how? Will the function still be available under Skype?

Hi i want to know if the problem of messenger bots adding themselfes on my skype list without my permission will be solved?
Has microsoft team found a solution? Or all users will have to wait that msn server shutdown and these bots can't access anymore?
Please find a defintly solution is very frustrating to have people in your list u never know and never add before when using msn messenger.
Thanks.

Original title: Hi my question is about bot messenger adding themselfes on my list

Since having been forced to use SKYPE, instead of MSN MESSENGER, I've found I no longer get notification of new email.. Have tried as suggested, signing into  my Microsoft account pressing ALT+F  hovering over options, then clicking on the sound for incoming e-mails but it don't work....Not pleased at all that this has been taken away..Also find the the OUTLOOK is so basic, there is no spell checker, have tried to change back to HOTMAIL, couldn't find the "revert back" as was advised would get the choice to do..

      regards, Pam

P.S.   I'M AMAZED AND DISAPOINTED THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER TO THIS.

Much like hotmail to outlook, you are upgrading all of MSN messenger to skype. Well, that's terrific, but THERE IS NO BROADBAND where I live. So if I don't voluntarily upgrade to skype, do I lose all of Messenger contacts suddenly? Why are you restricting use something to only people living in areas that have Broadband? So if I don't sign into skype in the first year are all of my contacts gone? How does this work?

Like I said, I have no way to use SKype. I am on a 14.4 connection because the phone lines up the mountain are old, and no companies have seen fit to run new lines, so no cable TV, Satellite internet and TV is not an option because, Oh! Mountain's in the way! There is no 3G or 4G or LTE here. There is normal cell phones (barely).
So seriously, what is someone like me supposed to do with this?

The important question is this: Since you are stripping our ability to use MSN, how long will my contacts be preserved since I have no way of using Skype?

When try to sign in, a box message appear saying:

Either date and time settings are incorrect or the digital certificate file is not valid or installed on your computer. If date and time are correct, see your network administrator to verify that your digital certificate is valid and installed.

With the merger on March 15th of MSN and Skype, what do people like myself who DO NOT want Skype but wish to keep our good ole' relible MSN Messenger do?  As a "baby boomer" I have certain things that I think that should be left SIMPLE.  I know that technology has come a long way, but, if you ask a log of my age group, "new & improved" is NOT always better.  I don't own an Ipad, or a "smart" phone and have no intentions of doing so.  I just want to be able to talk to my grandchilden through messenger after school.  Microsoft has already forced me to go from my good old reliable Windows XP to 7 (which by the way, still doesn't have all the "bugs" worked out of it) and now they are going to end up forcing all of us to go to Windows 8 eventually.  Can we not just keep one small thing simple and have the option to stay with MSN Messenger?  PLEASE!

If not, I think I will go back to using my Mac all the time, sorry.  My G3 from 1996 still works today just fine and I can chat on it.  I really don't want to do that, but if I can't get what I want the MS and Windows.... I'll be forced to.
