Give Us Back Skydrive With Local Account!

After many years of averseness to Microsoft, I really loved the innovations and the new style of Windows 8.
I convinced a lot of people of the advantage of the new system.

And personally I switched to Surface RT and a Windows Phone just recently.

But the new Skydrive implementation in Windows 8.1, where having to log in with a Microsoft account to enable Skydrive, destroyed a lot. And I start to regret having switched. I even didn't update on all PCs, just because of that.

I have no problem using my MS account on some systems, e.g. my Surface Tablet.
But on some systems it's just not possible.

Here are some reasons:

1) at home I'm not able to log in to my NAS anymore, as it doesn't allow longer usernames (which would be necessary when using my email address as the username)

2) in my company we are using local accounts (no domain accounts) on all our PCs in the network. And these accounts are installed on all our servers etc.
But as I understand only domain accounts can be connected with a Microsoft account.
Some time ago I established the usage of Skydrive especially in combination with OneNote in my company. But with Windows 8.1 this isn't really possible anymore, thus we will probably shift to Evernote and another cloud solution.

The alternative use of Skydrive via web browser is ridiculous and useless.

Just give us back the option to sign in to Skydrive separately, maybe using the already existing option in the PC settings.

Re-accessing an account

My child got a windows phone and apparently there was a child block program on it that required me to make a Microsoft account, and now it wants me to access the account again, but I forgot the email I made up... Suggestions???

Collecting of Personal Data

I previously chose to use the Desktop SkyDrive app logged on with a local account to help maintain my privacy.  I also used multiple local accounts to separate work from home life--My vacation pictures flashing across a tile are not appropriate for a work meeting.  The Desktop SkyDrive app allowed me to connect to the same SkyDrive no matter which profile I was under.

I know that any application developed for windows 7 and 8.o will natively run in Windows 8.1.  MS has specifically taken additional development steps to prevent the desktop app from working in windows 8.1 and are doing their best to force us to log into our computers with a Microsoft account.  The only logical reason for this effort is data collection that leads to additional revenue.

Could you please disclose to me what additional personal, behavioral, marketing, and diagnostic data is being recorded by Microsoft when I am logged in through my live account verses a local account?

Thank you.

Multiple ids created

I 've been facing a weird problem. I signed in to Skype using my Microsoft account from Skype.com for account settings. I clicked on "unlink" Microsoft account which was the same id i signed in with. N since then my Skype name is appeared as "live:my_id_2". That was very frustrating so i went back to my Microsoft account n again clicked on "unlink" n now my Skype name appears as "live:my_id_3".  When i search my Microsoft id from Skype directory, it displays 3 search results "live:my_id" , "live:my_id_2" , "live:my_id_3". If i make any changes in my profile it displays with "live:my_id_3" not with my original id which is supposed to be "live:my_id". I need help from Microsoft tech support.  Please help me!

I need to re-open my closed Microsoft account

I closed my Microsoft account in error, not realising the impact on SkyDrive, Windows 8 etc.

I've been through the "Can't access your account?" links however it does not recognise the account email address but also does not let me create a new account with the same email address either.

Skydrive in 8.1, no desktop app?

31. October 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: local access, Microsoft account, SkyDrive

I have recently upgraded to 8.1, and now find that I can't access my skydrive locally without merging my domain account with my Microsoft account.  I really liked the desktop app in 8 which allowed me to log into Skydrive locally on my domain joined PC.  Now I'm trying to get my files, and it says I must merge my personal Skydrive to my work Domain account to still use local access.   I can still use the web app, but it definitely not near as easy to use, and doesn't allow off-line access.  Seems like a down grade in 8.1 for Skydrive.  Is there a fix to still be able to access Skydrive locally with your personal MS account on a Domain joined machine?

Deleted my Microsoft Account accidentally

During the process of upgrading my Windows 8.0 to 8.1, I accidentally deleted my Microsoft Account!  I need to reinstate this account as I have a lot of Microsoft related businesses linked to this account.  I have tried to re-register the account with the linked email without any success either.
