Outlook.com not showing some pictures in Active View

For some reason, when using Outlook.com, it does not show some images in the preview window, nor does it allow such images to be viewed in the slideshow.  Is there some sort of filter mechanism being used to keep some images from displaying?  Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

 

 

Notice how the first image is shown, while the second one isn't.  Furthermore, only the first image is included in the slideshow.  Is there any way to fix this issue?

Active View works randomly

I am having trouble getting the Active View feature to work consistently with my Outlook.com account. I have the same issue using Chrome (latest verision) and IE 10 so I don't think it's a browser issue. The problem is sometimes the Active View works for attached images (.jpg) to preview them in the browser and some times I just get the paperclip to download the file. For instance, I just received 4 separate emails from the same person with 1 jpg file attached to each email. Two of the emails worked fine and the other two didn't. I can't figure out why it doesn't always work. When I change browsers I get the same problem with the same emails.
