I have about 20 Gigs of free space on my SkyDrive. Here is a log of what happened when I tried to upload a 238,174 kB file this afternoon.
1:45 PM – Start Upload of 238,174 kB file
2:03 PM – 9% done
2:24 PM – 19% done
3:08 PM – 36% done
3:36 PM – 46% done
4:24 PM – 56% done
5:25 PM – 67% done
5:53 PM – 77% done
6:06 PM – 83% done
6:34 PM – “Sorry, there was a problem uploading this file. Please try again.”
Almost 5 hours, which is 300 minutes, which is 18,000 seconds.
I think my usual upload speed is about 5 megabytes/second, and I am pretty sure this upload works out to be about 13 bits per second. Anyway, it was awfully slow.
(1) The system knew the size of the file, how fast it was uploading, and when there was a problem. Couldn’t the system retain what had been uploaded and request the user to press a button to continue the upload, rather than just trying again from the beginning?
(2) What was the problem? Knowing that, I could try a workaround - after all the “try agains” have failed. (I have been trying again for 2 days, both with the uploader and by syncing with my hard drive. Does Microsoft really think they will be able to produce a different result if I give it one more try again?)
By the way, although I am called "curiousVistaUser" I am using Win7 and IE10.
