I have been running Security Essentials for many years on this computer and others and this is the first time I have ever had a problem. It is stalling at a particular file, only during a Full Scan, but not in Quick Scan, with Error Code 0x800106ba.
Yesterday I uninstalled MSE and re-installed it. It is still stalling at the same place, with the same Error Code: 0x800106ba. The File it is stopping on is: C:WindowswinsxsBackupx86_microsoft-windows-session0viewer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_n (and I cannot see the remaining info).
I am running Windows 7 with all appropriate SP's. (I have not yet downloaded Window 10 to this computer, and frankly I am happy I am waiting as I have seen some scary threads regarding MSE and Windows 10.)
I would like to know what to do or where to go to get a fix for this problem. Frankly, I am surprised that MS has not yet come up with the appropriate fix for this problem as it is obvious that this problem began this week and it is happening to more people than just me.
Help would be greatly appreciated and ASAP.
Thanks in advance.
BTW: Is there a difference between Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Essentials? If so, I am referring to WSE, not WE. (Just want to be accurate here.) Also, my "Product" is none of those listed under Product* so I am just selecting one because I have to to in order to get this inquiry posted. "Writer" is NOT the problem, WSE is the problem.
