Windows 7

I can NOT figure out how to edit a photo and save it to the rest of my computer!!!  I just downloaded Windows Photo Gallery, since Windows 7 does not come with a program to edit photos.  I got the photo just the way I wanted it, but when I try to use it, I can not!  Very frustrating.  It is not saved on the computer, so I can't use it on Facebook.  Yet, supposedly I should be able to do so.  They are MY pictures, so I should have all rights to them.  What the heck do I do?  Is there a better EASIER program to use for this?????  (For Windows 7)
