Lately ive had trouble adding files to movie maker, which were .avi files recorded with fraps, which i later found out that fraps was the problem. Since then, Ive started using shadowplay and videos from a twitch stream. Although now I can actually add in the videos, after a short period of time (usually spent cutting the videos into small parts so that I can type in subtitles), eventually the videos stop moving properly and only the audio is left, then they turn into black screens, and then they are replaced with the the yellow caution sign and wont play at all. When I click on them i get the error message "Do you want to remove BLANK from this project? The file might be corrupted or in a file that Movie Maker does not recognize. This movie cant be saved or published until BLANK is removed from the project. Error: 0x87160139" Although it says it cant be saved, I can save the file just fine, and the problem is solved once I restart Movie Maker and reopen the project. But it happens again only a few minutes later, and it is very inconvenient and slow to have to restart Movie Maker every few minutes. The videos play just fine, although media player wont work at all, so I have to use VLC player instead.
