I am trying to "pause" my clip and switch to a snapshot, then continue with the clip. The issue is that the first part of the clip is playing past the split point. Here are my steps so you know exactly what I am doing:
- Split the clip at the point where I want the pause effect.
- At the breakpoint, make a snapshot. For testing purposes I made a screenshot using Movie Maker's built in tool as well as taking the exact same frame using Media Player Classic Home Cinema. (The quality of these two frames is very different. I'm not so concerned with this quality difference but it sure would be nice if the Movie Maker screenshot were a frame grab from the original instead of a frame grab of the low quality preview. The frames I am using can be viewed here.)
- Drag the snapshots from my desktop into position in my timeline (right between the two clips).
- When I preview the video it looks great. You can watch a screen capture of it here playing inside of Movie Maker. Everything looks perfect. The video pauses at the frame right before his foot drops.
- However, when I save the video the timing has changed. You can watch how it passes the split point and then returns to the screenshot. You can view the final clip with the glitch here.
What can I do to make the rendered video match the preview? I have tried this on multiple video clips with different screenshots and I get the same thing happening. The video was created with a GoPro 960 and frame rate is 29fps. Is this something everyone
experiences in Movie Maker version 2012 (build 16.4.3505.0912), in other words, a bug? Or am I doing something wrong?
