I believe my Spooler File became corrupted recently causing my Printer to disappear from my HP PC?

When attempting to Add Printer I receive error message:   Windows can't open Add Printer.

                                                                                              The local print spoo;er is not

                                                                                               running. Please restart the spooler or

                                                                                               restart the machine.

I accessed SERVICES and @ the SPOOLER File I see this error message: <Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 193 >

Any assistance in correcting this issue will be greatly appreciated.
