Please help to recover emails and files

Hi, 

Was advised to reset my password as I had not signed out of my email account on my laptop.  At the time my account on my IPad was working fine for a time.  I reset my password on Friday 26th July, but have since lost all my old emails and files. Have tried to recover mut to no avail.

Please advise.
