I have windows 7 and have been running the installed Photo gallery for at least 2 years.

I store my photos on a portable hard drive and all has worked all Ok todate.

The photos are loaded to be opened in photo gallery and can be edited and tagged perfectly OK, and likewise when the files have transferred to the hard drive and organised.

However, in the last couple this has not been happening.

If I open a photo file held on the computer, by highlighting  the file, the prompt comes up to open in photo Galley you click this, the file opens and the option comes up to organise/edit - click this and the whole file opens. you highlight the photo you wish to tag or edit which the takes you into the programme to do this. Like wise by using the files on the hard drive. As it should and has been doing.

However what is currently happening on the files from the portable hard drive is that when you get to the  last stage instead of opening up the whole requested file , the last opened file used on the computer is shown. and not the file you are look at, I checked this out in many ways but it still is happening.

I have also plugged  this hard drive to my Wifes' Windows 8 , Here it works perfectly ok and exactly as it should work.

Can you advise what can be done to get this back working correctly?
