I know this thread is a year old but I have a problem with WLE2012.  It, or specifically Photo Gallery, will NOT run in Windows 10.  I have uninstalled then re-installed.  When I uninstalled MS SQL server 2005 (compact edition) was removed.  Then I had to re-install it separately after I re-installed WLE 2012.  Still getting the same error with "a problem making the program close."  Running in compatibility mode does not work.  For now I am using the Photo program with W10 but I liked or at least was finally used to using Photo Gallery.

Is it worth updating SQL 2005 to 2014 Express edition?  Do these affect any programs other than Windows Live Essentials bundle/ Photo Gallery?
