I am having trouble saving changes to my photo gallery photos.

I am sure I used to be able to save OK, but not now. I have Windows XP and am using the 2009 version of Photo Gallery.

I have tried updating this version and even removing and re-installing the "latest" version, but the 2009 still comes up.

When trying to save a changed photo, the message "Changes to this photo can't be saved because Photo Gallery has experienced a problem" below this message is a button with "Why can't I save this photo". This is a link to all the reasons why I might not be able to save, but it appears that none of them relate to my photos.
