Hi, it seems no one else has had this issue because neither google nor microsoft forums have anything like this that i can find.

So i just last week bought a new laptop which has windows 8.1. one of the first things i installed was photo gallery (16.4.3503.728). i then happened to discover almost straight away that there was a newer version available (16.4.3528.331) so i downloaded and installed that. however, when i use the trackpad or the touchscreen of the laptop to swipe up/down the photos displayed do not respond accordingly - the images seem to almost mush together and over the top of each other. only if i physically click and drag (or tap and drag) the actual scroll bar on the right of the window, or use the mouse wheel, does the program then scroll the photos on display. i have the latest synaptic drivers for the trackpad.

on my old laptop i was running win 8 with photo gallery 16.4.3503.728 however the trackpad had a different gesture for scrolling which i had no issues with (the gesture was: start draging up or down on the right-most side of the pad, then continue in a circle to keep scrolling indefinitely/to the end of the page - no lifting of the finger necessary: i miss that gesture!).

two-finger scrolling seems to work in every other application other than photo gallery. i have made a short video of the effect using camstudio but i don't see anywhere that i can upload it - perhaps to youtube if anyone asks. i need the trackpad to work on this because i am regularly using photo gallery on the move (i.e., not at home where i can plug in a mouse).

i have tried repairing the essentials but it gets stuck at 8%. when i try to uninstall it, it does not progress beyond 0%, even after 10 minutes. when i try to install 16.4.3503.728 back over the top, it tells me i can't because i already have the latest version installed. i did not try the two-finger scroll on the first version i installed, as i installed the newer version almost straight away.

has anyone else had this issue? was it ever resolved?

thanks,

Agnieszka.

p.s., i will try to run the uninstall overnight while i sleep - maybe it will progress beyond 0% with LOTS of time.
