I get the following message when I click on the Send/Receive function...

Unable to send or receive messages for the Verizon (aj.ber) account. Windows Live Mail couldn't log on to the email server using secure password authentication. Contact your email provider and verify that it supports secure password authentication. To change this logon setting, in the folder list, right-click on the account name, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu. In the Properties dialog, click the Servers tab, and then under Incoming Mail Server, select a logon option.

I created a video on Movie Maker but when I tried to put a title for the movie, it replaced the first 7 seconds of the video with the title.

How do I move the video files forward so the title happens and then the video starts?

Thanks in advance.

* Moved from Windows 7/music

All of my incoming email is going to trash. I know there is a possible fix. It starts with finding a Gear icon in the upper right hand corner of some page. The only ready available are for tool and general settings. My mail server is Yahoo. I figure that gear icon that I have been looking has to be in Yahoo or outlook . Please give me a location where I can start.

Thanks,  Al Ashton

I'm trying to combine 3 seperate videos into one video using the Photos app, but when I open it, it doesn't let me click anything, which makes the app un-useable... I tried resetting it through Settings, tried restarting the computer but nothing seems to be helping.

Hello,

I had installed Movie Maker to my Windows 7 Home Premium computer. A major error (not related) had occurred so I had to format my HDD and reinstall Windows 7. When I had reinstalled Windows and installed Movie Maker, it installed without issue but it now says my system does not meet minimum requirements. It's not like there isn't enough space on my HDD because I had reformatted it and it was empty. I didn't do any hardware upgrades or downgrades for Movie Maker to suddenly stop supporting it.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Summary

This article explains how to use message rules in Windows Live Mail.

Details

To create a message rule, open the Rules dialogue: click Message Rules on the Folders tab. (In earlier versions, select Tools > Message rules). The dialogue is largely self-explanatory.

  • Windows Live Mail’s message rules only work with POP3 server accounts.  For IMAP accounts, set the rules in webmail.

  • The text Apply this rule after the message arrives is not significant.

  • The actions Delete from Server and Do Not Download can only test information in the message header (From:To:CC:, Subject:, message size).  If you test text in the message body or whether it has attachment, the message must first be downloaded for this test to be made, thus negating the action.

These rules must be the first ones in your list, or a preceding one may cause the message to download.

  • Do not download should be a temporary rule.  If you just leave messages on the server, eventually your mailbox on the server will fill and you’ll not receive any new mail.

  • The order of rules is significant. Rules are processed in the order listed.

  • In most cases, you should select the Stop processing more rules action to avoid the rule being overridden by a subsequent one.

  • There is no wild card support (e.g. * or ?).  However, matching is done based on the specified string appearing anywhere in the field.  The matching is not case sensitive.

  • To match on multiple terms (e.g. “blue” and “sky” rather than the phrase “blue sky”) you have to Add the terms one at a time to the rule (i.e. enter the first word, click the Add button, then enter the second term, click the Add button, etc.)

  • Message Body rules check only displayed text.  The rules will not match on HTML tags.

  • To configure NOTAND or OR logic, click on the Options button for the condition.

  • After making any changes to a rule, you must use the OK button to close the main dialogue that shows the list of message rules. If you use the Cancel button or the ✕ to close the dialogue, the changes you just made are thrown away.

If you are checking on the From: header and the message header has both a Name and an Address, and you are checking for Address, the rule will not work if manually applied (Apply now).

  • It will work if automatically applied as the message downloads from the server.
  • It will work if checking the Name
  • And it will work if the From: header in the message only contains Address but no Name

To work around the bug, set up the rule to check for Name OR Address.

Hello,

We are currently migrating one of our customers on Microsoft Exchange 365 Plan 1. Their current email was in pop3 at internet provider. The messaging software used was Windows LiveMail 2012. We were able to forward emails and contacts to Outlook by cons for suggested contacts (semi-automatic contact) we find no solution. Is it possible to do it? If so, how do you please?

Thank you in advance.

Cordially.

I have set up rules to try to elimate the huge amount of spam mail i receive.  I set up rules like "If the subject line has the word sex - Delete from server"  etc or is the body of the message contains certain words then delete.  They still manage to get through - is this because the people sending them have worked this out and make the message body an image so that the words dont get picked up my live mail?

It is driving me nuts the amount of junk I have to delete every single day.  Ive tried blocking domains, moving them to junk before delete etc but nothing seems to work?

Any ideas?

thanks
