Outlook’s hotmail will not let me find specific people’s emails to or from me. I have a court case coming and I need this function!!!@!!

I need my Search emails function to work.
Hotmail is not allowing it. It suggests my going to Outlook to see if there's a problem.
This is the crucial problem.
How do I fix it?
