My Outlook email is acting strange..... even my Word is acting strange.

When I select one email to delete, press the delete key, it will also delete the next email which has not been deleted.  I could be in my INBOX or JUNK emails and this is happening.  Not sure if I could try to restore my computer back if that would help?  It is very disturbing because I have important work emails that are all of the sudden deleting so I am having to count all of them in my INBOX as I delete just to make sure I immediately go searching to recover it from my deleted box.

It is also harder to 'select' a word or sentence to copy and paste as the highlight ability is very jumpy and not 'sticking' on the selected words. I have noticed this happening in my Outlook email as well as WORD.  HELP!

Also noticing in PICASSA....as I have downloaded lots of pictures that every time I open it, it starts trying to IMPORT pics from my harddrive.  As I view pictures in a slideshow, it is not SKIPPING almost every other one.

ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS started at the same time about one week ago.....anyone out there able to give me some ideas of how to fix??  Thanks!
