I tried to set up my Outlook.com email on my smart phone's email client, and while I have no issues with the initial set up for my Outlook.com account using the IMAP instructions/settings provided by Microsoft, once set up it will not automatically sync when using "Push" settings (e.g. when I receive emails, it will not show up in the email client unless I manually "poll" or refresh.
My question is, can anyone confirm whether Outlook.com supports Push technology when using IMAP settings? Or can I only use IMAP if I set the email client to Poll periodically (which is less "instant" than using Push)?
As further background, I am using an Android smartphone (version 4.1). I have attempted to set up Outlook.com via IMAP for both the stock email client (made by Motorola) and the third party "K9" email client. Neither seems to sync my Outlook.com email when using "Push". Of note, I have successfully set up other email accounts (ie gmail) on both email clients using IMAP. For those accounts, syncing via Push has never been issue - only an issue for my Outlook.com account. I know that Microsoft feels that EAS is the preferred syncing method, however the email client I want to use does not seem to support the latest EAS protocol and so I am stuck with IMAP for the moment.
I appreciate any help.
