I want to change my outlook alias into an actual account, is that possible?

The problems I have with the alias are as follows

- Replying to email switches to my old email address, even when it someone sent it to my new outlook alias.
- Outlook aliases can't seem to sync with my iPhone.

Can they be fixed while it remains an alias? I think changing might be a better option.
