After updating my Mac desktop computer with Outlook 2011 update 14.6.1, I began receiving 5,000 plus emails I thought I had permanently deleted over the past three years from my email accounts! Additionally, my contacts were gone back to 2012.
I read on here somewhere to go back and rebuild the previous identity, which I did and it fixed most of the problem. At least my contacts were back and my most recent emails were returned but I lost my emails for the month between identity changes. Then a few days later, my contacts were gone again, my emails seemed to be okay and my calendar okay, but something was up with my gmail mail account as I was receiving double copies of everything. I deleted and reset and that seems fixed.
I still need my contacts back. I tried to recover from the time machine and my back up drive, but the program won't permit me to "restore" anything. I tried to rebuild again from a couple of the more recent identity folders with no success.
I am wondering where my contacts are. Were they deleted or have they been swiped?
Also, in my Identities folder, the names of the older identity folders are labeled "Main Identity" and the later backup folders are only labeled "S." I don't have a clue what that is all about.
I would really appreciate some help here.
I did update Outlook on the same day I updated my OS to El Capitan 10.11.3 which may not have been a good idea as then everything started crashing constantly all over the place. Many of the kinks seem to be getting worked out but I still need my contacts!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
