old emails gone

I had several years of messages in my inbox that are now no longer there. Only the messages from the past few months.

- I have tried the recovery deleted messages option

- My account has never been tagged as inactive

- My account has not been hacked

- I have never allowed a POP3 client to delete emails after they retrieve them

I understand this is something that has happened due to the recent conversion to outlook.

Please let me know if those older emails have been archived on a server somewhere and are recoverable or if they are just gone forever.
