Why has Microsoft not kept Windows Essentials up-to-date? Are there plans to update it any time soon? A lot of consumers are flocking to Apple because their suite of tools (iMovie, GarageBand, etc) runs circles over anything Microsoft has done in the home user arena. Not to mention that feature-wise, MS Office also doesn't really have much to offer the average consumer except compatibility when sharing documents.

Movie Maker and Photo Gallery (and Live Mail too!) were great apps. Why have they been allowed to atrophy?
