Multiple versions of POP 3 emails being downloaded to Imac Outlook

I have the latest Office for iMac downloaded and upgraded and connecting to my BTyahoo gets me multips (2,3 or 4) versions of the same message even when i delete from my inbox.  What ideas does anybody have?
