Earlier this week I had no problems playing my old MPEG files on both MS Media Player and Movie Maker. Now, these files won't play/work.  MP4 and MOV files still play/work.  The error screen I get is: "Windows Media Player has stopped working...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

A Windows 10 upgrade happen sometime this week, so the timing seems to point to that event. Anyway, I downloaded the K-Lite Codec Pack Standard and that did not help. What works is if I convert these old MPEG files to MP4 files which means buying conversion software. (I tested this successfully with a trail version).  Before I buy, is there some simple setting change or whatever that can be done to solve this problem?
