I began using MM last year on a Win7 Home desktop, which had MM pre-installed, & had no problems making projects with AVI files.

I installed 2012 manually via Essentials on a Win8 (now 8.1) laptop, & again, had no problems making projects with AVI files.

I bought a new Win8 Pro laptop, downloaded Essentials, & it crashes when I add an AVI.

It works fine if I add a JPG or MP4, but not AVI.

The AVI files play perfectly using Media Player on the same Win7 Pro laptop where the crashes occur.

Tried repairing, uninstalling, redownloading, reinstalling, but same problem.
